Letter cancellation d · b · q · p

Find exactly the right signs among many similar ones – as in concentration tests for school, training and job applications. On screen or on paper. ← All concentration exercises

How it works

1

Pick a level

Easy: every d (good against mixing up b and d). Medium: every d with exactly two marks. Hard: the same with 15 seconds per row.

2

Cross out

Tap the targets, a second tap takes it back. At the end you see hits, overlooked targets and wrongly crossed signs.

3

Print

Worksheets with 8 to 14 rows, fields for name, date and time – and, if you like, a solution sheet with the targets circled.

Frequently asked questions

How does the exercise work?+

Rows hold the letters d, b, q and p with small marks above and below. You look only for the d with exactly two marks – both above, both below or one above and one below. All other signs stay. Well-known concentration tests work in a similar way.

Is this the d2 test?+

No. The d2-R is a standardised psychological test by a publisher and is evaluated by professionals only. This exercise is built in a similar way and is meant for practice and getting to know the task – it gives no norm values and no test score.

What do the errors mean?+

Overlooked targets often show haste or a moment of inattention, wrongly crossed signs imprecise looking. Together they make the error count; the time shows the pace. With practice most people get both faster and more accurate.

Is it suitable for children?+

Yes, the Easy level without marks already suits primary school children and helps against mixing up b and d. For children and older people there is “Extra large print” when printing.

How do I print several sheets with solutions?+

Open “Worksheets to print”, pick level and number, keep “Solution sheets” ticked and tap “Print / save as PDF”. Every sheet is new; the solutions come at the end with the targets circled and the number of targets per row.

The exercises are for practice and fun. They do not replace a diagnosis or therapy.
