Table from image to Excel

Turn a photo, screenshot or PDF into an editable table and save it as an Excel file or CSV. Text recognition runs right in your browser, the tool finds the columns by itself – and if a border is in the wrong place, you fix it with a tap. Nothing is uploaded.

🔒 No upload – images, PDFs and tables stay on your device
    Languages in the table

Runs entirely on files from mytoolio.org – no third parties.

    How it works

    1

    Choose a file

Drop a photo, screenshot or PDF with a table into the box. PDFs with real text are read exactly, images and scans via text recognition.

    2

    Check the columns

The dashed lines on the image are the detected column borders. Tap the image to set a border or tap a line to remove it. Edit cells right in the table.

    3

    Save

Save the table as an Excel file (.xlsx) or CSV – or copy it and paste it into Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers. Several pages can go into one file.

    Frequently asked questions

    Are my files uploaded?+

No. Images and PDFs are only read in your browser. The text recognition (Tesseract), its language data and the PDF reader come from mytoolio.org itself – there are no requests to other services, and nothing from your files leaves your device.

    How good is the recognition?+

Best with printed tables photographed straight and well lit, and with screenshots. PDFs that contain real text (e.g. exported from Excel or Word) are taken over without reading errors. With photos, check the numbers: single characters can be misread.

How do I fix wrongly detected columns?+

Dashed lines on the image show where the tool splits the columns. If a border is missing, tap that spot; if there is one too many, tap the line. The table below is split again at once. There you can click cells to change them, use ⤒ to join a wrapped row to the one above and × to delete rows or columns.

Excel or CSV – which should I take?+

The Excel file (.xlsx) is usually best: numbers stay numbers, the header row is bold and stays in view when scrolling, and the column widths fit. CSV is plain text for other programs; for Excel in German or other European languages choose the semicolon. “Copy” puts the table on the clipboard so you can paste it straight into Excel or Google Sheets.

    Are numbers taken over correctly?+

The tool works out whether the table uses German (1.234,56) or English notation (1,234.56) and stores plain numbers in Excel as real numbers – so you can calculate right away. Numbers with a leading zero such as postcodes stay text, as do values with a unit or currency sign. Untick “Take numbers as numbers” to switch this off.

Does it work with several pages?+

Yes. Every page of a PDF and every image becomes a table of its own. “All as Excel” puts them in one file, one page per sheet; “All as CSV” writes them one below the other into one file.

    Does it read handwritten tables?+

Only to a very limited degree. The Tesseract text recognition is made for printed text: neat block letters sometimes work, joined-up handwriting usually does not.

Text recognition with Tesseract.js (Apache 2.0) and the “tessdata best” language data, PDF handling with pdf.js (Apache 2.0) – all served by mytoolio.org and run entirely in your browser. Results may contain mistakes; please check before sharing.
