PDF to Word

Turn a PDF into a Word document you can edit: paragraphs instead of single lines, real headings and bullet lists, images where they belong. Scanned pages are read by text recognition.

How it works

1

Choose a PDF

Drop or tap a PDF. The file stays on your device – nothing is uploaded.

2

Convert

Text, font sizes and images are read and put back together as paragraphs, headings and lists. Text in columns is read column by column.

3

Check and save

The preview shows the structure that was found. The .docx file opens in Word, LibreOffice, Google Docs and Pages.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded?+

No. The PDF is read in your browser and rebuilt as a Word document there. Text recognition runs locally too. No server sees the file.

How exact is the layout?+

Kept: text as connected paragraphs, headings (from the font size), bold and italic, bullet lists, indents, centred lines, images and the page size. Not kept: exact positions, text boxes, colours and graphics drawn from lines (some charts, for example).

Does it work with scanned PDFs?+

Yes. Pages without text are read by text recognition (Tesseract, in the browser). This takes a few seconds per page, and the quality depends on the scan. Text recognition does not find bold, italic or images.

What happens to tables?+

Table rows come out as lines with tabs between the columns, not yet as a real Word table. In Word, select the lines and choose “Insert → Table → Convert Text to Table”.

Why does the font look different?+

Fonts embedded in the PDF are not copied. Word uses the same font if it is installed (Arial, Times, Calibri …), otherwise a similar one.

Does it work with password-protected PDFs?+

No. Unlock the PDF with its password first, for example by saving it again in your PDF program.
