Upscale images with AI
Enlarge small, blurry or old images to twice or four times the resolution – the Real-ESRGAN AI adds edges and detail instead of just stretching pixels. For photos and for graphics, logos or anime. Everything happens in your browser, with no upload and no third parties.
AI model Real-ESRGAN · one-time ≈ 20 MB from mytoolio.org
No image yet. Drop a small or blurry image here – AI brings it to twice or four times the size.
How it works
Choose images
Drop one or more images into the box, pick them or paste them with Ctrl+V. They are only read locally.
Pick 2×, 3× or 4×
Choose the enlargement and the image type – “Photo” for pictures, “Graphic & anime” for drawings, logos and screenshots. The image is upscaled in tiles; you can watch the progress live.
Compare & save
The before/after slider and the 100% view let you check every detail. Then save as PNG, JPG or WebP – several images at once as a ZIP.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded?+
No. Your images are only read in your browser and enlarged there by the AI – they never leave your device. The AI model (Real-ESRGAN) and the runtime come from mytoolio.org itself; there are no requests to other services.
How is this different from normal resizing?+
Normal resizing (e.g. in an image editor) only computes in-between pixels – the result gets bigger but soft and blurry. The AI was trained on millions of image patches to know what sharp edges, hair, text and textures look like, and adds that detail. It also removes JPEG blocks and noise.
Can the AI rescue any image?+
No. It can only add plausible detail, not truly restore what is missing from the image. Very small faces or text may be altered, and very noisy images sometimes look smooth, almost painted, afterwards – “Smoothing: weak” or a lower AI share helps then. The before/after slider and the 100% view show exactly what changed.
How long does it take?+
With WebGPU (current Chrome or Edge on a computer, many Android devices) the graphics card does the work – a photo is done in seconds. In other browsers the processor does it on a single core: a one-megapixel image then takes about one to two minutes, about half that with “Graphic & anime”.
How large can the result be?+
Up to about 40 megapixels on a computer (e.g. 7,700 × 5,200 pixels) and 16 megapixels on a phone – browsers cannot reliably hold more. If the source image is too large for that, it is scaled down first; this is then shown below the image.
Is transparency kept?+
Yes. For PNG and WebP images with a transparent background, the transparency is enlarged too and kept in the result. When saving as JPG it is filled with white.
Upscaling with Real-ESRGAN (realesr-general-x4v3 and realesr-animevideov3, BSD-3-Clause, © Xintao Wang) via ONNX Runtime Web (MIT) – both served by mytoolio.org and run entirely in your browser. The AI adds detail that is not in the original; the result is not suitable as evidence or documentation.
