120BPM

How it works

1

Set the tempo

Slider, plus/minus or “Tap” in time – the metronome takes the tapped tempo. Space starts and stops.

2

Beats & accents

Pick the beats per bar. Tap a dot to accent the beat, play it normally or mute it.

3

Practise with the trainer

The tempo trainer raises the tempo by a few BPM every few bars up to your target – ideal for difficult passages.

Frequently asked questions

How exact is the online metronome?+

The clicks are scheduled ahead on the browser’s audio clock, not with simple timers – so the beat stays exact under load and in a background tab. Only the dots may pause in the background.

What do Largo, Andante, Allegro mean?+

Italian tempo markings, roughly: Largo up to 60 BPM, Adagio 66–76, Andante 76–108, Moderato 108–120, Allegro 120–156, Vivace 156–176, Presto from 168. The exact limits differ between sources.

How do I use the tempo trainer?+

Start slowly, e.g. at 60 BPM, set “+5 BPM every 4 bars” and a target such as 100 BPM. The metronome speeds up by itself and holds at the target. So you practise a passage cleanly before it gets fast.

How do I set 6/8 or triplets?+

For 6/8 choose 6 beats and accent the first and fourth dot – or 2 beats with triplet subdivision. Triplets, eighths and sixteenths sound quieter between the main beats.

Does it work offline and on a phone?+

Yes. The metronome runs entirely in the browser, without internet once the page has loaded. On a phone the silent switch should be off, otherwise some devices stay quiet.
